After my husband gave me a Power Tools 101 quick tutorial, I accomplished this tonight! It's approx 6.5 feet by a little over 3 feet.

Nice size! Will you cover the other side with plywood as well. Perhaps pegboard would work to help with ventilation? I wonder if anyone has used that before.

What's the platform for? Sorry if you already mentioned it!

Thanks!!! There will be a roof/lid that hinges open as well as a front door. Everything else lest open will have chicken wire installed. I only enclosed a small end in case extra warmth was needed or security. ? I hope they like it!

They need protection from drafts, I'm not sure if it will be drafty or not depending on where you are keeping it.

It's our basement so no drafts. Plus, we'll transfer the red light to this brooder for a while, too.

I have my brooder in my living room and still have to cover the front of the plastic dog crate to prevent the draft (they sleep in the front right next to the door). If they slept with n the back I probably wouldn't have to.that just seems really wide open. Maybe you could zip tie some cardboard to the inside or outside of the chicken wire. At least til they get most of their feathers?

Generally speaking, every room has a draft along the floor from heat transfer (hot goes up, cold moves down).
