GEEZ, we are all over the place arent we?

Im proud to report the red light has not affected egg laying in the slightest. Im getting a egg every other day from my rosecomb hen just as I was with a white light. They are much happier and they SLEEP!!!! I finally got my first egg from my mottled pullets yeterday as well!! Luv the red light

I've got 2 layers now. Still using the Ryobi "nite lite" for an extra 4 hours of light. Looks like the khaki campbell and the buff are laying. Just waiting on the runner to finish her molt.

I think what we are seeing is that Buff Orpingtons can be good layers even without all that high-octane genetic stuff

.

They aren't on a 23 hour cycle - that's for sure but they are obviously giving it there all . . .

Hubby forgot to put the night light on for the ducks last night. Only one egg instead of the two. Could be coincidence, but it could also be our buff duck needs that extra light to lay.
