In the Brooder
I need to go ahead and say, I am new to all things chicken! I have wanted chickens for as long as I can remember, but was always under the impression that one needs a farm or at least some other crazy farming skills to keep and provide for them properly. It wasn't until the new 'chicken craze-phase' and my mother getting my daughter a coop, 3 chickens and a rooster that I realized it didn't seem as complicated as I thought. (Though I couldn't picture keeping mine in a coop/run all day.)
That was 2 years ago and up until now I had let go of my dream of owning a few egg layers. 8 weeks ago I was walking into the local feed store to buy some dog food and there they were, fresh baby chicks for spring time. I figured 4 or 5 wouldn't be to much trouble; well I ended up walking out with 13 chicks total and 3 guineas, because again why not? So here I am.
I live in Hayesville North Carolina with My husband and our 8 year old daughter. We have 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 ferret, 13 chickens and 3 guineas.
