This duckling just hatched out of one of my Pekin eggs 4 days late, Looks like Mr Muscovy snuck over to the Pekin pen. Actually, I caught him in there chasing around one of my hens. I didn't realize that he had caught her. I have hatched out a dozen pekins recently and this is the only mix.

Here are some of her brooder mates, I had 3 calls, 6 magpie, 2 cayuga, 3 "mayuga's" (MagpieXCayuga), and 3 pekins hatch out this week with her.

Mainly the bill, she has a muscovy bill, and of course the color. A pure pekin would not have any black in its feathers. The Muscovy drake that bred the hen is white with just a little black on his head like this duckling.

Here is a picture of a pekin and the pekinXmuscovy ducklings. The mixed duckling is not all the way fluffed out yet. The pekin is also 4 days older. But notice how pink the bill is on the mixed duckling compared to the pekin duckling.

and that bill just yells scovie. Stinky old scovie boy .

I notice you have the shelf liner in your brooder. How do you clean them? I had some in my brooder and couldn't get it clean.

I sure would like a bator!

I just wash them out daily with dish soap I have by my wash sink. Also about every three days I will use bleach. With both, I do rinse heavily with cold water just to make sure all the soap or bleach is gone before it goes back in with the ducklings. As they get older, I change it twice a day.
