I have a backyard free range flock of 25 hens and a couple very tired Rooosters of various breed. Sadly I have lost one hen and I think I am about to lose another. Seems to be only a couple of the SL Wyandots that have lost vigor. There seems to be no signs of illness ( I know birds dont show many symptoms until death) but what symptoms do show are lethargy and a general sleepy posture and then she was dead. There is no sign of worms or lice and the combs are not pale but are not bright red as they should be when laying rather sorta waxy and dull red. The hens are just 2 yrs old. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Chickens can be infested with worms without your seeing any sign other than droopiness, pale comb, etc. I'm not saying yours have worms, of course. could be any number of things. Another possibility is something like internal laying, disorders of the egg laying equipment. Sorry you are going through this.
