My friend's cancer seems to be spreading fast. Everytime I see him he seems more frail. Still so much fun to be around. He started dividing up his stuff and we set out on adventures to give it away. I found out he is sleeping on a box spring in a sleeping bag. I went to Kohl's yesterday with a 20% coupon. I got a 3" thick memory foam topper, puffy mattress pad, flannel sheets, 2 pillows and a soft thick blanket. I told the clerk why I was buying it. He called a manager and by the time they finished discounting it I paid $150 including tax for items that sold for $500. Just wanted you to know what kind of store Kohl's is so if you ever need to you can go there. I went to his house and made up the bed. I tested it for comfort and it was super. There is lots of dog hair from a previous roommate, so I loaded my vaccum to go vaccum out the bedroom really well. That is where he wants to die. He asked for tiolet paper and paper towels I'm also taking. Believe me I am NOT posting to Bragg about myself, I am doing this out of my love of God and my friend. How often do we really see a need where we can truly make a difference? It is changing my life. He has introduced me to music and art that I love. We are laughing and having fun together. I have never experienced anything like this before. I told him he has changed my life. He said it's nice to know that he could do that at this point in his life. I can just feel God in this and the things God is doing in my life and his. I am guessing he may have 4weeks or so. He has started hospice at home. I want him to be able to die at home bec that's what he wants. Sorry if this is a bizarre post. I just don't want to say anything to my family, I don't know why. Maybe bec they would think i am bragging. It feels like I am changing in a good way, becoming something better. It's odd how God works. I have prayed to be more patient and compassionate. I think He is answering my prayer.

Officially got my first egg yesterday! Pretty sure it was my Leghorn at 20 weeks. Now I just need to get my other 5 laying and I'll be eating good. Still have a white rock, barred rock, RIR, EE, and a Golden Laced Wyandotte not laying but at 20 weeks it's still a little early. I did put some lights in the run so they get 14 hours of light.

OK chicken peeps, my wife collected our first egg today, probably the second one layed, she thinks one was layed while on the roost and it busted yesterday, but this morning she heard a hen cutting up before letting them out, she checked the nests and found a small brown egg, she is going to try to get a picture to me so i can show the world, Oooo RAAAA

AS promised here is our first egg, it is tiny as far as eggs go, but as a monument of success, it is like charlie browns great pumkin, it only cost me about 700$ so far to get to this point

Hello everyone! New BYC member here just getting my foot in the door of this thread as a fellow Louisiana chicken keeper so I'll just let you guys know a few things about myself. I got started on my first flock in April so I'm very novice. I live in a residential area with a limit of 3 pullets (so I've heard) but almost everyone in town who keeps chickens has well over the limit and no one cares as long as they are well kept-so... I've got 10! My next door neighbor has 9 and our neighbor behind us has 17 and have had theirs for years. Lol! My children and I loved the idea of exciting egg colors and that determined our breed selection. I've got 2 EE, 1 OE, 1 Faverolle, 1 FBCM, 1 lavender Ameraucana, 1 light brahma, 2 Cochin bantams-1 smooth and 1 frizzle (we have them simply bc they are too cute not to). My flock is young but I cannot wait to get my 1st eggs and am honestly enjoying chicken keeping 10x more than I expected I would & I KNEW I would love it! That's about it guys. I really look forward to getting to know some of y'all, but for now y'all get those chickens ready for Cindy and stay safe yourselves!

Hello all! My husband and I live in Monroe, LA and just started our first flock in April of this year. So far we have 8 hens ranging in age from 6 months to 2 years (all laying now). I'm looking to add to our flock in the next 2 to 3 months and one of my wishlist hens is a blue Andalusian. Would anyone happen to have that breed available?

It was my daughters birthday today (No we didn't buy $150 dollars of junk on food stamps

lol.) To top it off I got the virus my daughter had earlier in the week but moping was not an option! There were a lot of people and the kids were so happy to see the horse we saddled her up and gave rides to all of the kids, including one who had never gotten to ride a horse before. Sandy (the horse) got a little grumpy near the end and retired to the barn with a nice bucket of oats.

Apparently my daughter for some reason decided to announce to the entire congregation at church in the morning that I was expecting twins. Well that's news to me honey!

Made for a bit of a laugh. She wants siblings so bad!
