Hello everyone. I have been a lurking member for a while, but realized I never introduced myself. I live in North East Oklahoma, north of Tulsa. I currently have too many chickens to even count them all, but know that I have around 85 Serama, 10 Brabanters, 12 Pavloskaya, 3 Crevecoeur, 3 Svarthona, 6 Bielefelders, 4 Lavender Ameraucana, and a random assortment of barnyard mix bantams that free range the 10 acres we call home. I also have my brooders and incubators full with more hatching eggs on the way. Yes, I do think I have an addiction, but my therapists all cluck, crow, meow, bark, or neigh so I'm not sure what they are prescribing. I love rare breeds, especially those that have featured in art history. I also love to study genetics and history so chickens really fascinate me. I am a professional artist specializing in oil and encaustic painting but like to dabble occasionally in pretty much every media. I also design animal themed jewelry and clothing. One of my favorite aspects of raising chickens is their variety and color. They are like flowers in the garden and little muses that inspire me. I also enjoy their personalities. I find watching them interact with each other and the other animals on the farm to be very relaxing yet entertaining. I have three adult children (no grandkids), a long suffering husband, 2 dogs (GSD and Alaskan Shepherd), 4 cats, and 5 Welara (Arab/Welsh cross) Ponies. I am also easily distracted by shiny things, so have a to-do list a mile long. And I often procrastinate by sitting at my computer. Anyway, hello and happy to be here with like-minded folks. -MB

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
