I met a breeder to discuss the purchase of hatching eggs.

I asked about disease and he said he lost a couple of birds he acquired as chicks a couple of years ago. A necropsy at a government lab confirmed Lymphoid Leukosis.

I believe him when he says he has not had any symptoms since, but is it possible that his other hens became carriers and could pass the virus thru hatching eggs?

I've been researching for hours. Some of the medical terminology sounds as obscure as legal documents.

According to the Merck Vet Manual:

Quote:
I think thats means it is possible (likely?) that the rest of his flock is infected but since the existing birds were "horizontally" infected, they are less likely to show symptoms.
