In the Brooder

Hi all!
I want to start off by saying this is my first time raising chicks in over 10 years, and I’m pretty rusty. The chicks seem to be doing pretty good, sleeping a lot, fluffing bedding, and chirping. No water drinking yet, but they have investigated it and been shown. There’s six bantam assorted mix (from our local TSC) and I’m really worried that they have everything they need and I’m worried about the heat to the brooder. They have a topper, it’s just not on in the photos.

thank you all!

It looks amazing! Just watch their behavior for the temp, if they’re all huddled together really snug that means they’re cold or just cuddling. but if they’re all trying to get as far as possible away from the heat then they’re hot. If you Can’t tell or just want to be extra cautious you can go out and buy a digital thermometer and lay it in there! Good luck!

They ended up being pretty hot, so I rigged the light to be a little further up and now they’re loving it! They’ve been eating, drinking, and running all over, so I’d say they’re pretty happy! Thanks for the response!! ☺️
