17 weeks old? I'm pretty sure you have a rooster.
It could go either way - Orpingtons are notoriously difficult to sex.
That being said, I currently have two 18 week old Buff Orp x RIR pullets and they have only a very small pink comb - nothing like the headgear your chicken has. Based on that, I'm putting in my vote for cockerel. Sorry!
