Mama hen started laying again after only 3 weeks and isn't paying attention to the chicks

Hi,

I could use a bit of advice. I had a broody hen and we hatched 3 successful chicks with her. She has been very good with the chicks over the last 3-4 weeks but 2 days ago she started laying again and doing some pecking of the chicks and in general not looking after them as well.

The chicks do have some feathers but as they're only 3/4 weeks old I'm concerned about the babies. I checked last night and they were all sleeping under her at least. Any advice on the best course of action?

Some hens just wean them early. As long as temperatures in your area are not cold, they will be fine and will adjust.
