March 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
It was just a regular still air incubation. Seemed like a normal pip this morning, and then a few chicks were rocking eggs around and he was pip side down. Humidity is between 50-60% but it could be fluid. I’ve just never seen it this yellow before. He’s still breathing through the little hole. Time will tell I guess, not much that can be done.
It is really nice to be able to share all these things: highs and lows. Thanks to all of you sharing your hatches too!

:fl Fingers crossed!

There may be an answer for the fluid: looks like this little guy had trouble with intestines staying inside. Perhaps all that fluid was abdominal fluid. He got out of the egg but it’s not looking good. Most of the yolk is absorbed but there is at least and inch diameter of red intestinal fat and vessels outside the body. Boo… poor little fluff.

:hugs Aww I'm so sorry.

ETA - the bigger quail in the brooder are my 1 week olds

So far 5 total moved to the brooder + 2 still in the incubator & 8 eggs left. Today is day 18, the first hatched at 10 last night I’m hoping these others hatch tonight.
