March 2022 Hatch-A-Long

I put 41 eggs into lockdown. 3 more had to be taken out, they had died off.
Monday is hatch day! This is my last hatch of the year. Kinda sad but also happy as I have more than enough chicks then.

This is not an uncommon finding. Has the little one progressed since you posted last?

Well, it hatched! I was going to post a picture of the pip an hour ago, but it already hatched out! The blue egg has also hatched!! (Brown egg baby is in the 1st picture, and blue egg baby is in the last 2 pictures)

The brown eggs pip is bloody for whatever reason
It's still cheeping, moving, and pecking at the egg so maybe it hit a vein? I went out to do farm chores, came back, and it was like this. Thoughts? (Sorry, the pics aren't the best, my phone wouldn't focus). Btw, no blood is leaking out, just a bit bloody around the pip hole.View attachment 3036452View attachment 3036453

It looks like it pipped through a blood vessel. They're usually perfectly fine when this happens.

I moved these two into a brooder with the first one! They are settling in quite nicely and the first one is happy to have friends!

19 chicks out off 20 eggs. A amazing hatchrate of 95%.

Looove seeing all the baby pics!! Finally caught up on all the posts!!

I started with 7 eggs, 4 ended up being unfertilized, and the remaining 3 all hatched! 3 Ayam Cemani babies! My class named them Sweety, Tiny and Bob (lol).
