Hello! Put 27 eggs from my own flock in the incubator last night, so, hopefully, I will be hatching out some chicks March 10th!

Tomorrow's candling day! Everything has been perfect for this bunch so far. Temperature has stayed at 100 degrees consistently and the humidity the same at around 45%! Have a good feeling about tomorrow.

So on day 4 after weighing and candling of my 15 EE, buff Orpington, and mix grab bag 6 of them showed strong signs of growth, 2 moderate, 6 either too dark or unsure, and 1 culled for blood ring (tiny tiny crack in shell found).

Tomorrow we will be candling and weighing again. So excited to be halfway there! Hatch date is the 6th/7th.

Now if I could only get my hands on a single duck to raise with them!

Day 7. Candled tonight. Removed 6 clears and 1 blood ring with 3 questionables left in the bator for another 3 days. So 42 - 7 = 35 at the moment. Probably down to 32 in a few days. Not bad at all so far.

Ok my 7 day candle summary here for egg set on 2/17. i have mail order malay eggs (5 in bator & 2 under hen that wont count here) these are too dark to see, mix of mail order silks and showgirls -of 12 i have; 5 clears,2 blood rings, 4 good and 1 ??. of my own silkie stock of 6 eggs I have; 1 good, 2 blood rings, 1 clear and 2 ??. of my own d'uccle stock of 32 eggs i have; 16 good, 14 clears and 2 ??.

so out of 55 eggs, i have;
4 blood rings
21 good
20 clears
10 ???? (too dark or cant tell)

i did buy some ascorbic acid but i think i missed the window on application, i will try it on my next batch to be set soon.
