Mean rooster

I was wondering if hens will quit or slow down laying if a rooster is really aggressive to them? My 14 hens are only 2 yrs old but have gone from laying 14 eggs a day to 8 or 9. My rooster seems to be very aggressive to them.

Sounds like the rooster needs a time out! Give the girls some rest from him.

If it is already hot in your location the hens will start to slow down laying. And as they get older they will naturally not produce as many eggs.

Answer is yes. Aggressiveness causes stress. Stress causes changes in patterns and behavior.

Is it a new rooster? Can you describe his behavior? Could it be he’s extra hormonal because it’s spring? Any sudden spikes or drops in temperature?
