Medicated feed is not necessary for chickens. Get yourself some Corid to keep on the shelf, and learn the signs and symptoms of coccidiosis, in case you wuld have an outbreak. I have never had an outbreak, raise some baby chicks every year, and don't feed medicated. Flock Raiser is great feed for all ages, and different birds, but just put plenty of crushed oyster shell out for free feeding when they start laying so they have enough calcium to lay strong egg shells.
