Merging Silkies

Hi, I have a couple of silkies I am going looking to be introducing into my flock. It's a small flock I just started, 8 birds. I was going to cage them separate in the same pen for a while just to get them acquainted. I was told that I shouldn't mix them because it's likely the others would peck and kill the silkies. Is this common? They're all young birds, about 4 months and the silkies about 3 months. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It would be better to separate them in the same pen but I will admit I didn't do it I introduced my silkies at night when everyone was sleeping the next morning of course the other chickens were kind of like where did they come from but that was the easiest introduction I have done. BY THE WAY
