You are lucky it ended up frizzled. The chick I got that is not frizzled is still really neat and looks like burned toast.
Below are my chicks this am at 2 weeks old...The blub is only 25 w, and the canned one is 40 w, they are in a shed that gets warmed up, so I don't need it hotter than that. They are not cold, they are just scared of me, the monster.
I got about 5 hens in my order, maybe a few extra, I will not complain. I like the fryers (11) I will raise them up until they crow, and I like to process them for my dog. Plus sometimes I really enjoy the personalities.
The burned toast chick is in the right corner...
Other than buying that frizzle, that was not a frizzle for $15, if you get just a few hen chicks, and get the others in roosters to bring up the shipping numbers you can get them for pretty cheap.
Below, is one of the rooster chicks, I think it is a New hampsire, IDK, but it was all yellow as a chick and started to get some brownish color on the wings.
