Mine quit laying

I've got 29 hens now 9 months old that were laying ... getting about 6-7 eggs/day. I have been expecting increased production however they have almost quit instead. It's record hot here in Central Texas... maybe that's it or shorter days.

What's your thoughts?

I'm in south central Texas. It's everything! Shorter days, very high temperatures and molting. My hens also stopped laying.

Either of those things could cause it, and both just make it worse. When things cool down you could put an automatic light so they get 12 or 13 hours of it per day in fall and winter. That often helps to keep them laying. Usually young girls under 1 year of age don't need it though if they are layer breeds, but something to keep in mind.
