Missing eggs

When I checked the hen house this morning I had three eggs in the nest box. Three hours later I had two. What sort of creature is steeling my eggs? No noise from the chickens, I was home the whole time. Could this be a two legged thief?

Human, snake, rat, chicken. Those would be my first guesses in no particular order. I would assume that a human who is going to take one egg would take all three.

I was having that problem this spring. I made a big enough stink about it around the neighborhood that no one had better be caught in my chicken house stealing eggs and then all of a sudden eggs wasn't missing anymore. My dog was doing a lot of barking during that time too. So I am pretty sure I had human predator(s)
