Mom and babies

We had a hen get broody and raise 2 chicks that she hatched over the last summer. We just bought 6 babies from a store and brought the same hen in to see if she cared. She is just standing there right now not moving around them. One ran to her and she backed off and sort of bit at it. But other than that see seems neutral toward them. Will she care for them or does that not seem like a possibleity

Is she broody in the moment? i.e. does she want to hatch eggs and have chicks?
If she is not, then it won't work and she may actually kill them.
If she is, then try sneaking them under her at night.

I tried this last fall and my hen just attacked the new babies. You have to sneak them in when she's asleep and there's a brief window after her eggs have hatched when she will accept new ones. You should probably get a brooder set up
