momma hens

has anyone ever had 2 broody hens at the same time take care of 6 little babies....the mommas were doing fine until yesterday, they started fighting...and drawing blood....i was informed they were fighting over the babies...which i dont understand for 8 days there was never a problem....so now i have them separated one momma with 2 babies and the other momma with 4 babies..i have no clue what to do next...they still try and peck eachother through the hardware cloth if i let one momma and her babies free range while the other momma stays in the coop....and i let them take turns.....any info will be appreciated

Keep them separated. They don't know they each have their own babies, they just see another hen with chicks that could be hers.

so leave one momma with the 2 chicks and the other momma with the 4 chicks..or take one momma out and only leave the one momma with all 6 chicks
