Hi aart,Maybe I missed it, but why were the other birds chicks not with her?
So two broodies hatched some chicks and both broodies rejected the first broodies chicks?Hi aart,
She rejected them because they were not her own chicks
That's the problem. I was trying to raise the chicks myself with a heater cause the two hens were fighting a lot. when the other hen escaped from the chicken coop I took her to the laundry where I had all the chicks. She was fine and when I saw her she was keeping all chicks warm during the day but in the night when I last saw her she separated the other hens chicks. I found out too late she killed two and the others ran and hid. I don't understand but the other day she killed 3 of her own and I am just weary and at the point of giving up.I think aart was asking if you had two hens hatch chicks why did the other hens chicks get placed with the hen they didn't belong to?
I'm curious myself since she already had 11.
