mottled silkies?

what about using a mottled houdan instead of a cochin? they dont have feathered legs, but have crests and 5 toes
you wouldn't want to use the houdan because of type issues i would sugest if you are going to use them you should cross with a cochin or something of a similar type, but if you do what i had said those genes should stay there if you keep selecting for it.also the genes you talked about like the crest, it's a dominate gene, the silkie gene is ressesive but if chossen for you should start getting all silkie chicks by about the 3rd or 4th generation and at that point you can start showing the best that look like a mottled silkie and get a judges opinion on them and he may be able to tell you what you could do to try and fix. the extra toe gene ressesive or not if you keep selecting for it it will show up.

Found this pic on extreme silkies facebook. This is what I want my mottled silkies feathering to look like.
