I am a first time chicken momma and have no idea if I have pullets or cockerels. I got these birds at 4 and 8 weeks old, have had them 2 weeks
and have looked at photos and watched videos and for the life of me I am even more confused. I'm hoping the reason I can't tell the difference is because they are all roos. I also don't know what breeds or crosses I have. Any help is much appreciated.

A few more that are a bit camera shy and I meant to say I hope they aren't all roos.

Thanks ! I got them from a young kid that has free range on their family farm. He hatches the chicks and sells them. I don't have an area where I can have a brooder so I was happy to get older birds though I didn't want roosters.

Ah, then all are mixed breeds.

Most of them are cockerels. 😬

Is there a downside to mixed breeds if i am just going to keep them as pets/ egg layers for my husband and I? I will need to figure out a plan for the roosters though 🤔
