New to the forum and getting reacquainted with chickens.
The wife and I started with 10 chicks back in January, unbelievable that we still have 10 and they are getting into the full swing of egg laying.
We have been getting a few VERY large eggs! Cracked 2 of the largest ones and one was a double yolk and the other a triple! Thought we should go buy lottery tickets! ( No winners! So much for that theory!🤷)
Have read a couple previous post of others with triple yolks, but from Google it says it is very rare? Thanks for any input.

Our birds are Speckled Sussex, Americana and Easter eggers.

Double yolks are very rare in cartons of eggs from the store (because those eggs are meant to all be alike: any that don't match are sold to someone else, such as a bakery).

Double yolks are not particularly rare in eggs from a backyard flock. Triple yolks seem to be much less common than double yolks, but as you saw they certainly do happen.

Here is an article that talks about many other ways an egg can be different.

Unusual eggs seem to be more common when pullets are just starting to lay, and maybe when hens get old, but some individual hens just do lay odd eggs more frequently than other hens.
