Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone could possibly answer why my daggum blue chicken turned white...here's the backstory...
We bought some chicks labeled as Blue Stars from Russell's Feed...my mom went to lunch real quick and left them in the car *cringe* so when she got home this lil gal wasn't doing too hot. I force fed water and electrolytes then made a paste of chick mash and force fed that. Got her responsive again. For the next few days I carried her around in a scarf I tied around my neck like a hammock and pretty much mama birded her (not the throwing up in her mouth part lmao). All was well, she was a bit behind everyone growth wise but she was zesty and thriving. Fast forward to the ugly duckling stage as I like to call it...(feathering out to pullet stage)...welp...all her feathers coming in were white. Stark, allllll white. She was still behind everyone even with growing feathers. So alot of blue down still and most wing feathers at first so I thought, "Surely her body feathers will be blue"....feathers grew on soooo slow...Hell, she looked like she had no butt till she was about 3 months old haha. I dubbed her Patient Zero...Zero for short. Anywho...fast forward to fully feathered, almost 4 months old...and Zero is actually a HIM, and has surpassed everyone in growth by leaps and bounds. Taller then our 1 year old Brahma and Ameraucana. And completely white!! Still has slate blue legs like the other blue stars but white as white can be. I joke and say it's cause he saw the light when he almost went to Jesus...but seriously...any idea why Zero went that way? I mean, even the parent chickens weren't completely white so I am just flabbergasted and no its no albinism. Eyes aren't right for it. Just a mystery and I'm too curious lol
