My chicken is eating it's own egg

Hey, my hen went broody (finally! so happy!) and the only downside is that she seems to be eating one or two of the eggs. I know because i have found the egg shells but there is no yolk or anything in it, just the shell. I also know it wasn't one of the others because no one wants to mess with Savannah ( that's the name of the broody hen! ). Savannah gets mad and tries to attack other chickens that come nearby. she is friendly when i pet her though. 

What breed is the hen? With some bigger breeds they can often break eggs underneath them either with their weight or being clumsy when they get in and out of the nest. This can also happen if there isn't enough bedding material in the nest and the eggs are against something hard like the floor of a nest box. If too many eggs are put under a hen that can also happen.

Thanks for the links. I'm going to try the golf balls first and then, if necessary, the mustard in the egg trick.
