My first egg!

From a older hen we have had her 4 weeks and she was very sick now she healthy and happy.

Dh is complaining says the yolk should be darker..sigh. So am I doing someting wrong

I'm new to chickens but I can't imagine you're doing anything wrong. I'd imagine if you were doing anything wrong they wouldn't be laying or they'd all be dead.

The yolk looks perfect. The color there just depends on what the chicken eats.

Sorry about the typing sentence structure lol working and surfing does not go hand in hand for me.
Framer boy no she is not free range, though I let them loose 2- 3 times a day a hour at a time. With the heat I had cut it down to one hour a day. She also had worms very badly when I got her and had to treat her.

if you want dark yolk they have to be free range .. i get a lot of dark yolk in my eggs because they are out all day long until night ... so they need to be outside for a while foraging and eating grass and anything else bugs to .. so thats how i get dark yolk but i have not had chickens for long and i am not that old i love animals and i got a few chickens and then they all started to pile in lol
