My girl layed her first egg!

So she layed her first egg. She is about 18 weeks old. I picked her up to take her outside and it dropped out of her. It didn't have a developed shell. Is that normal for the first eggs? The yolk looked perfect. Just the shell wasn't good. I do give calcium supplement.

Thanks. I was hoping that is what it is. She was my first chick hatched. That is why I named her Uno.

Yay! So pleased for you!! I remember when we got our first chickens, one laid her first in the cardboard box on the way home (!!) and the other laid a few days later... smack in the middle of a puddle!!

Two of my four just started laying and I am a first time chicken owner. It was pretty much the most exciting thing ever!!

It is exciting. Then last night when I put them to bed I noticed my same age cockerel/rooster tried to mount her for the first time. So I guess no more cockerel either. Uno is a very sweet bird and my favourite( I shouldn’t have favourites lol). so I am very happy she is healthy enough to start. I have two barred rocks about a month or so behind. Can’t wait.
