Help! We finally got a roll out nest box and only 1 in 40 eggs is being laid in it. They are laying under it, in the coop bedding and in their feed. We're getting more broken eggs now than when we had the standard nestbox in there. It's in the same spot and aside from the internal angle of the nest, everything is about the same.

Do you have a roll out for your hens?

Since you can't out golfballs or wooden eggs in them to make them want to lay, how did you do it?

If you have time, stay near the coop when you are most likely to get eggs. When the hen(s) are comfy in the bedding, and you know they are about to lay an egg, put them in the nest box. It is working 80-90% for me. I have done it to two hens, and have only been getting one or two eggs on the floor now. Still working on it, obviously, but that is what I suggest you try too.
