I saved a young chicken from a cat in my front garden two weeks ago and no one seems to be missing it.
I have no idea what breed, sex or age it is. I have 5 hens that are 2 years old but other than my 5 girls I have no other chicken experience.

I can’t have a rooster in my neighborhood so figuring this out earlier than later will give me time to find a home if mystery chicken is a boy.

Any help identifying age/sex/breed is very greatly appreciated. I’ll attach some photos.

I’m sorry I forgot to add that the feathers have some green iridescence that is hard to see in photos.

Thank you all for your replies! I looked up the breed and it does look like her. Hoping she is a girl cus we have gotten attached.
Thanks again everyone :)

Black Australorp or Midnight Majesty Marans. Depends on egg color - dark brown = Marans, light brown = Australorp.
And yes, she will lay eggs in the next few months.

Chicken update. It’s been a little over a month so I thought I’d post some updated pics. No eggs or crowing yet. The neck feathers have me a little worried but comb and wattle have hardly grown.

I'm leaning 'pullet' because her comb and wattles should be larger and redder at this age if she were a cockerel. But those hackle feathers!! Hmmmm? Please keep us posted? Can you take a pic of her tail from above her directly? Thanks
