This seems like a great idea and much simpler than other rollouts I have seem. How much slant does the bottom have?

Roll out is definitely the way to go. I think a community nesting box is more efficient on space. I've got 12 hens using my 24 inch box, but it's rated for up to 20 hens. Mine is a medium roll out nesting box from HenGear.com, it was $119. The mat allows debris to fall through to the ground, and like others said, the eggs are very clean.

Do a search on these forums of roll out nesting box designs, and you'll find lots of great ideas.

I used cheap carpet runner stapled down with a good staple gun. If the slanted floor is removable that's a bonus you can clean it easier.
