Agree. We had cracked earth over an inch wide that went down 9 inches. But the water is coming too fast. And we've only had just over 2 inches in two days. (Little more by tonight)

Going to be a1 wet 10 days.

Should have hatched ducks this month instead of chicks.

We have had 2.25 but it was a wonderful soft rain, we have little run off. I know others are getting a deluge, that does not really help. But our cracks are finally gone and everything is such a pretty green

We're in Bellevue,NE. I'm not sure of the amounts... But it keeps coming down hard. I'm happy for the rain, I just wish I had my coop done. I don't like watching the raw wood get soaked. No door. No shingles. :-(

I have a question for my fellow Nebraskans. Since my coop is not done yet, I have time to change the plans. Do you guys have food and water inside the coop or only outside? I was originally planning on only having them outside the coop in the covered run.

Thoughts?

I keep mine inside, less mess with rain and snow

In the cold of winter, they won't want to walk outside in the wet/snow, so it will need to be inside.

Keep the food and the water inside. Some girls do not like to go out in the snow or the rain.

Another questions for you all. Do you use heat lamps in the winter? I've read in a lot of places that even in cold weather you should not insulate or heat your coop. The birds will naturally take care of themselves. Does this apply to us in Nebraska? or are these people from a warmer climate where 60 deg. is cold.
