I'v lost two chickens already we have an UNKNOW thing coming in and killing them.

It only comes every 4-5 days I set a live trap lastnight with thawed hamburger patties.
Nothing lastnight i put some dogg food in there tonight. I don't think it has been back yet. Tonight should be the night will the hamburger lure it in???

If not what is a good bait?

It likes chicken? maybe some thawed chicken breasts?

I tried to cover it with some grass and leaves to hide it a bit but the wind knocked most off.

If it is a fox will it go inside to get the bait? it went inside a cage to get my chicken!!

My husband and I were just talking about what bait to use too. We put out a live trap tonight for a skunk that I found in the hen house last night. Anyone know what kind of bait we should have used?
We used bacon grease with dog food.

Cat food I would use, very strong smell thats very irresistable to anything that likes meat.

Skunks LOVE eggs, so 2 store bought eggs cracked open just a tad would probably work very well.

To the OP, I'm not sure how you would trap a fox. But if it's a coon you can use sardines or tuna, or marshmellows if you don't want to catch cats.

Cracked eggs, cat food, wet dog/cat food. Anything that has a strong meat odor should do the trick.

I will try some canned cat food no worries about cats.

What about the fox? I mean I don't know its a fox I just am trying to guess what it is.
