The red leakage on B is obvious. Are you seeing red leakage on B and D as well? I see a little bit of yellowing of the feathers on B, and sort of an underlying brassiness to D. Is that it?I'm sorry, what do you mean?
All are cockerels based on the red leakage and large combs.
I see red on one, basing off comb development for the rest. The red leakage on B is obvious. Are you seeing red leakage on B and D as well? I see a little bit of yellowing of the feathers on B, and sort of an underlying brassiness to D. Is that it?
That's why I was able to positively confirm cockerel on the other nine boys - all had saddle feathers starting, some had pointy and arched tail feathers. Bigger legs. Big red combs. So these four are just slower to bloom, you think?Pointy saddles and hackles coming in around 15-16 weeks.
Arched tail feathers don't mean anything until later, the only male specific feathers are the red leakage, as any others don't come in until later. That's why I was able to positively confirm cockerel on the other nine boys - all had saddle feathers starting, some had pointy and arched tail feathers. Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is "red leakage"?Arched tail feathers don't mean anything until later, the only male specific feathers are the red leakage, as any others don't come in until later.
The red coloring on the shoulders/wings is a male specific trait. :]Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is "red leakage"?
B has those red splotches. It has something to do with how the coloring appears on males vs. females when there is red in their parentage.Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is "red leakage"?

Oh! Thank you. I'd never heard of that. They don't all have RIR in their parentage, but it's likely with many. I just thought it was pretty feathering! Now I'll have to go check all the others again, to be sure.B has those red splotches. It has something to do with how the coloring appears on males vs. females when there is red in their parentage.
