I agree with the people who say to do physical things-- it's summer, get out there and do something active that you enjoy! If you like team sports, join one. If you don't, then do something non-competitive like hiking, climbing, etc. My passion is swimming.
If you don't pick something you can enjoy, then you won't stick with it. And you won't enjoy it all of the time, but you'll enjoy the feeling you get afterward and the way you look. Dieting may lose you fat, but it won't gain you muscle-- exercise will do both. You don't need to diet per se, just eat in moderation-- have balanced meals, make sure to drink plenty of water, and it won't harm anything if you have a candy bar or cheeseburger every now and then.
Projects are good, too-- help people move (they always love that), build things, paint things. The world is your oyster. Find something that requires getting off your butt that captures your imagination, and go do it.
