Nest boxes

I bought four nest boxes for four chicken. They are small. 9"wide, 17"long, 9.5"high. I have two Red Cross hens, a RIR and a black australorp. I understand that chickens share their nests usually, but for some reason the boxes I ordered are on the small side. Is one hen box of this size per chicken appropriate or should I return the boxes?p

Mine are 12x12 inches, 4 hens every day 3 eggs in one box and 1 in the other. It's pretty easy to make them yourself I would go at least 12x12 your birds are the same size as mine.

A nest box needs to be big enough for a chicken to comfortably turn around

Your nesting boxes are fine and not too small. Don't worry about your hens.
