Just keep doing what you are doing as it is working. Generally this sort of set up will work for one or two eggs. Once you add several the heat consistency can be a problem regardless this is not the issue here. Keep us posted on the progress. I've always loved mystery eggs. One time I put a mystery egg under my pigeons and they hatched a bantam chick. I had no idea what it was until it hatched. They certainly were frustrated when it wouldn't crop feed though.
