New Chickens

We recently added 8 acres and stable to our property, We are thinking of getting some animals. I want to put some chickens out, How much sunlight do chickens require to be healthy? We have a 4 bay stable and I wanted to turn the last bay into a chicken coop however there is not a lot of sunlight, also can they lay eggs and have the chicken run area in the same place or should they have an enclosed housing area? My 3 daughters and I are new to the farm scene and are anxious to get started!!
