New Chicks

Well I have Lavender Orpingtons, Barred Rocks, White Americanas, and RIRs. I am waiting on momma to hatch out her eggs which should happen on the 17th. I am wondering what a chick that is a mix of a Lavender Orpington Rooster and a RIR will look like? Sounds like it would be a weird looking chicken. How long will I keep the hen and the chicks in the separate pen after the chick hatch?

According to the chicken calculator all the chicks will be black - you will have to let me know how they come out.

Depending on the temperament of your flock, you may be able to put mom and chicks back in once the chicks have grown a little and can evade any more aggressive birds.
