In case you want to return to quail, I recommend considering coturnix. They are from the lands circling the Mediterranean Sea, so not native to most of us. But they have been domesticated for centuries, and are much easier to keep than the native quail in the U.S., anyway.

Didn’t actually raise bonwhites, they were for my husband and our bird dog, but there is a quail tale about the bobwhite We did raise cortounix, I loved em, hundreds of them (I got addicted to hatching ). Then we sold the whole flock and now just have chickens & peafoul
