The holidays have been a great time for new babies down here in GA.

My Marans hatched the day after X-mas and I have some new Silkies as well. These little ones were hatched about 2 weeks ago.

The spotted chick is my favorite...

I think that one is the product of the Blue silkies. I did some reading and found out that a certain percentage of blues will come out white, black, blue, or a combination.

Not being an expert on the subject, thats my best guess...Anyone else wnat to take a stab at it???

Info on silkie colors.....

black x black all blacks
black x blue is 50% blacks and 50%blues
blue x blue is 50%blue, 25%black and 25% or more splash
splash x black is 100% blue
splash x blue is 50%splash and 50% blue
splash x splash is 100%splash
dont keep a white, partridge or buff in this group
you can however keep a pen of buff and partridge if you like.

Wow, thanks for the info swtangel.

What will having a buff in with them cause? Will it bring out unfavorable traits or colors?

Thanks to everyone, I will put more pics up soon

I think if you have the blue-black-splash together, they're still considered "pure" colored silkies. If you throw a buff or partridge in there, they're "mixed" ??? I'm not a silkie connoisseur...just an admirer!

Hi, congrats on the babies!! I was wondering about the color thing. Do those combo work with all breeds? Or just Silkies? thanks
