New-ish chicken momma in Northern Idaho

Good day all. I've been lurking on this great forum for awhile now and figured it was time to join up. I started out with ten Australorp hens two years ago, raising them successfully as pullets through the North Idaho winter. They have been amazing egg producers. I recently added a roo to the flock, which was good timing since I lost a hen a week ago. My birds live as naturally as possible while keeping them safe from the dangers of our north woods.

The Australorps are my favorite because of their beautiful feathers and their heartiness. I decided on them because they are dual breed birds and we are hoping to bring some of them to our dinner table down the road.

We own what we call a movie ranch and my husband is a Stunt Coordinator for the entertainment industry. He now calls himself a stunt chicken farmer! We provide our local film community with space to shoot their projects and stunt and special fx services. Now we can send them home with eggs as well. :)
Welcome!! I'm in Hayden....looking for local chicken buddies. =)
