Hi Everyone,

My name is Christine, my family and I live in VA. My chicken journey will be starting this Spring when I select my peeps. I am leaning more for a dual breed. I'm excited and a little nervous. I'm the first in my family to raise chickens, so I am learning. So blessed to find this site and looking forward to hearing your advise, stories, and experiences.

Welcome and good luck!

We are learning here, it will be 1 year of chx keeping at end of Feb. my tween child has learned a ton, showed via 4-H and is a good chicken wrangler. Spouse has learned a ton building a coop and roof structure! Adult child and others learned a ton processing our 1st batch of meat chickens too!

Enjoy the chicks! Enjoy the future eggs!

Hello Christine and welcome to our community and thanks for joining us.

On this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archives . Ditto the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 I’d suggest including your location using the guide in that link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes
