Well, that crazy hen managed to sit all the way through and hatch one chick. I put the other eggs in the incubator to see if anything else happens. It looks like one more may be pipping. Meanwhile, she's a doting mama. Watch:

I had a quail go broody not long ago but I had to take all the eggs off her. Good on this one for not quitting.

Well, nothing else has hatched yet. It's just this one chick and its mama. Only now, it can actually eat huge mealworms even though it's still thumb-sized. Mama scolds me until I drop worms into the cage, then mama calls out and feeds it to the chick. Sometimes the chick finds the worms on its own too. I promised myself I wasn't going to treat them like pets, but these two are like pets. Oh no!
