(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Fairly new. We've had our oldest ones for a little over a year. Bought a house with a coop and said, "Well, we'll either have to (a) tear it down, (b) explain to everyone why we have a coop but no chickens, or (c) get chickens. Obviously, we made the right choice!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Fifteen. Started with four and just sort of... kept acquiring them.
(3) What breeds do you have?
A smattering. Red Star, Australorp, Buff Orpington, Gold Laced Wyanadotte, Ameraucana, Barred Rocks, Easter Egger, French Black Marran, and Welsummer. I think that covers them all!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are so personable and hilarious. The eggs are a fringe benefit to their friendship.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, board games, running and hiking.
