Awesome! Welcome! I'm new here too! I had a similar question as well as best bedding/litter materials. I just brought home (4) 3-wk old Black Australorps. Thanks!

I'm also new but from what I've read pine shavings is best in the coop and a poop shelf with sweet PDZ is best for litter. I wish I designed my coop a little better for the poop shelf, but I'll make it work with some tinkering. I'm also going to use straw for the run, because I can get it for free, and some in the nesting boxes, but only pine in the coop itself. Hope that helps.

I don't like using stuff like tha in the coop I like sand it doesn't smell easy to clean. It's the best type of bedding there is to use.

I think when we get moved and get into our coop, we will be using sand. We've been trying to decide and think that would be best all around. Then straw in the nesting boxes.

I would use sand for coop floor and poop boards and then use wood chips in nesting boxes
