Newbie from Lexington, SC

Hi from the other side of Columbia. You are doing the smart thing, build the coop, then get the chickens. Of course, against conventional wisdom, I got the chicks and then the race was on to finish the coop before they outgrew the brooder (large storage container). What type of chickens are you wanting, standard quality or mutts?

I plan on starting out small with about 6 chickens, maybe two Rhode Island Reds, two Plymouth Rocks and something else. Plan on building the coop and run big enough to add more if I decide to later. Where is a good local source to get pullets?
