I had a little partridge cochin bantam sitting on a clutch ( I had switched some out) most hatched day before yesterday, I had one slow poke hatch 30 hours later( i.e. finally fully out at about 10 pm with a little help - had internally pipped with the rest ,had external pip about 2 hours after the last but never unzipped,so I gradually helped waiting for her to show that she was ready .then added her to the others at 3 am this morning( eggs are dated when picked up)

Anyway, slow poke is now named spot, came from a dominque egg unknown rooster, but clearly had a very defined spot.. very small, tight, clean spot..

Then we have one that is definetly a Maran cross based on leg feathering

A cochin bantam based on it was her egg and the absolutely crazy feathering to the feet and legs

Then had an olive and a blue egg hatch so it will be interesting..all 5 clearly have different body types..two have the most distinctive white eyeliner I have ever seen

Bigger BRAIN cell as mama is called had them out integrated with the flock, dust bathing and all over the property today.she tucked them in for the night in safest place available..

We had a hawk over head( we do all the time,a pair of juvenile bald eagles, red tailed hawks, red shouldered hawks, Mississippi kites, peregrines Falcons and barn owls at night)

3 of my roosters positioned themselves around her as she shoved biddies beneath her

It was adorable to see my Splash ameraucana, jubilee orpington and black maran all looking like cave men ready to protect the women and children, puffed up standing big

Spot actually ran into the maran's spur, maran( rocko) leaned all the way down to stare spot in the eye like what are you, then hoppedover spot

I started incubating my hens' eggs last summer, but seeing your hen with her little nuggets is so heartwarming. Thank you for sharing. They are beautiful. ❤️
